Full Job Description
MITRE National Security Sector (MNS) and the National Security Engineering Center (NSEC) FFRDC is placing significant emphasis and focus into solving challenging problems that cut across all Departments and Agencies, Industry, and International Partners. As a systems engineering and integration FFRDC, NSEC fulfills the important role of assisting the DoD in solving its most challenging problems that require integration across the Services, other DoD agencies, the Intelligence Community, and the Interagency. Boundaries across these different organizations limit the DoD's ability to discover how integration and collaboration could enable cross-cutting solutions and to identify and develop these solutions. The breadth of its connectivity, spanning warfighters and other operators, technology developers, acquisition offices, and the intelligence agencies, puts the NSEC in a unique position to help address this gap. This is an important way in which the NSEC proactively assesses capability gaps and needs by mission rather than by system or Military Service and focus on outcome rather than process. The Mission Innovation and Integration Division, N570, identifies the nation's most consequential emerging National Security mission challenges, aligns MITRE's capabilities, investments, and partnerships to address them, and accelerates the transition of solutions into operational use for our sponsors. Rather than creating another organization, our role is to serve as an integrator across MNS-connecting sponsor demand, technical capabilities, partnerships, and investments to help deliver differentiated mission impact. The N570 team oversees the NSEC Cross-Cutting Priorities and facilitates coordination for the NSEC Mission-Oriented Experimentation and Innovation (MOIE) funds portion of the MITRE Independent Research and Development (IRAD) program, representing the MNS Sector-level challenges and funding priorities. We are currently seeking a Cleared Cross-Cutting Operations Principal to join our organization to serve in a dynamic, fast-moving role. Candidates should possess a breadth of technical skills, domain knowledge, operations, and project-management experience. Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Manage and monitor resourcing across select XCP and MNS IR&D efforts to ensure financial performance, appropriate staffing coverage, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Coordinate operations for the NSEC MOIE program with the MITRE IR&D team, research program leaders, the Office of the CTO, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve project management artifacts, including project files, schedules, records, TS/SCI communications, documentation, libraries, and repositories to promote organizational transparency and standardization.
  • Facilitate and manage team communication channels, collaboration tools, and internal websites to support effective information sharing and team engagement.
  • Continuously assess, improve, and standardize business operations and program management processes in collaboration with the broader MITRE operations and program management community.
  • Develop, maintain, and leverage dashboards to provide timely program status, resource visibility, and funding insights, ensuring NSEC MOIE funding requirements are identified and addressed.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across a matrixed organization, partnering with leadership, technical staff, administrative teams, sponsors, and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate MNS, XCP, Sector-level Challenge IR&D, and senior leadership engagements to support strategic initiatives and cross-organizational collaboration.
  • Partner across MNS, MNS Cross-Cutting Priorities, MNS Chief Engineers, and MITRE IR&D to drive strategic priorities, improve business operations, and foster collaboration across a large, agile organization.
