Description

What you'll work on: Valence mission technologists serve as client-facing team members for impact-driven programs. You will support senior members of the client organization on some of their highest priority technology-focused programs and operations. Typically, you'll work on teams of clients and fellow consultants, each with varying types of technical expertise (e.g., AI/ML, autonomous systems, communications, data collection, operations, targeting, program management, etc.).

What you'll do: Members of our mission technology team are focused on one thing - identifying and integrating technology that improve the operational success of mission-driven organizations. Our positions provide the opportunity for you to directly impact your team's success by capitalizing on your previous experience, while also allowing you to grow into new areas of mission support. You will be assigned a specific role on your team (i.e. Technology Project Manager, Technology SME, Technology Strategy), but encouraged to engage in enterprise technology initiatives, refine mission requirements, leverage operational and technical experience, identify and engage with private sector entities, support acquisition efforts, and provide strategic recommendations. We will ask you to gain a holistic understanding of your organization's challenges and will assist you with providing tactical solutions that improve the effectiveness of the intelligence mission.

*We are currently sourcing for positions on a variety of mission technology teams. Once a fit is determined, we will work with you on additional position responsibilities to ensure it aligns with your career goals and long-term aspirations.

What we'll do for you: You will join a boutique consulting firm that will both challenge you and invest heavily in your professional development. We will put you in a position that builds on your strengths, while ensuring you have consistent reach back support from Valence leadership and peers. We will work with you to learn and incorporate best practices from other mission teams and the private sector, while expanding your expertise. We will offer opportunities for you to become a leader within Valence, and together we will differentiate ourselves as one of the best mission-partners in the space.

What you have:
  • Experience designing, developing, launching, and managing technology projects
  • Ability to connect technology programs with mission requirements
  • Aptitude for technology solutions in the secure environment
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both in writing and through briefings
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage projects and communications through completion
  • High degree of personal integrity and core values
  • Bachelor's degree

What else makes you a strong candidate:
  • Proven record of leadership at work or through extracurricular activities
  • Understanding of emerging and defense technology
  • Ability to develop and review IT programmatic documentation and plans, including capturing and documenting requirements
  • Understanding of the government's technology security and integration requirements
  • Experience with both traditional and non-traditional acquisition processes
  • Knowledge of and certifications in project management, Scrum, or other commercial management methodologies
  • Software and technical development expertise
  • Master's degree in Public Policy, Government, International Studies, Data Science, Finance, Business, IT, Computer Science, Communications, or other STEM majors

What Valence Offers: We believe in putting our people first, so that you can put the mission first. We are looking for mission strategy consultants to join our team that are motivated to grow their careers and skillsets, as the company grows along side them. We offer opportunities for internal training and external development/certificates, in addition to ad-hoc speakers and events that align with our customer's problem sets.
