The Opportunity:

Make your mark while you grow your career! As a Mining Hydrogeologist, you will support safe, compliant, and effective production at the Albian Oil Sands Project by assisting in the delivery of field hydrogeological monitoring, characterization, and reporting.
  • Job location: Albian Oil Sands - Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • Shift schedule:
    • 4x3,10-hour shifts
    • 7x7,12-hour shifts
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes
  • Application deadline: June 23, 2026

Key Accountabilities:
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders including Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Mine Engineering, Mine Operations, Tailings Engineering, Environment, and Regulatory teams
  • Perform hydrogeological fieldwork, including but not limited to, groundwater/surface water sampling, monitoring well drilling supervision, aquifer testing/hydraulic conductivity testing
  • Perform contractor coordination, scheduling and management duties
  • Perform hydrogeological site characterization, data analysis, and reporting on monthly, quarterly or annual basis to internal and external stakeholders
  • Design and optimize mine depressurization and monitoring well networks, and develop groundwater and surface water sampling plans for field execution
  • Support technical reviews and presentations to stakeholders

What You Bring to the Role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology or Geological Engineering
  • 5+ years' experience in Physical/Contaminant Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering or similar field
  • Registration (or eligibility to register) with APEGA as P.Geo. or P.Eng.
    • Please note that GIT or EIT with highly relevant work experience will be considered
  • Highly motivated individual with good communication/networking skills
  • Experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience conducting hydrogeological fieldwork, including but not limited to, groundwater/surface water sampling, monitoring well drilling supervision, contactor coordination, scheduling and management
  • Experience/familiarity with some or all the following industry tools will be considered an asset: Aqtesolv, Surfer, GIS, AcQuire, or similar software
  • Familiarity with oil sands region hydrogeology will be considered an asset
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver's license (or higher) with a clean record
