THE OPPORTUNITY- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild a variety of meat processing and packaging equipment including stuffers, smokehouses, chopper machines and high-speed packaging equipment.
- Repair and complete preventative maintenance on high-speed processing and packaging equipment including PLC controlled equipment, conveyors, and vacuum pumps.
- Inspect and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment or other problems.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery as required.
- Remove and replace worn or defective parts.
- Start machines and equipment to test operation following repairs and maintenance.
- Responsible for maintaining food safety standards and report food safety issues to QA immediately.
- Work in a safe manner in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act by reporting hazards, accidents and incidents.
- Follow all prescribed SOPs, HACCP and GMP procedures.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
THE REQUIREMENTS
- Industrial Millwright certificate or qualifications (433A or 426A)
- 3-4 years of experience working in a manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge and experience working with high-speed equipment
- Knowledge and experience working with pneumatic and hydraulic components
- Read, write and communicate (English)
- Proficient mathematical and computer skills
- Mechanical aptitude with a good knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods and trade practices
- Ability to lift 60lbs and work in a cold environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively
