Full Job Description
Mill Maintenance Superintendent

We are currently seeking a Mill Maintenance Superintendent. This role is a full time, max-term position, reporting to the Site Manager, and will be based at our Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia.

The Opportunity:
  • Leading the implementation of safe work practices by ensuring work conditions and procedures within the Department are held to a high standard.
  • Proactively identifying safety issues and investigating all safety and health concerns and continuously enhancing safety measures.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Supervise all facets of site maintenance with specialized teams (including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, instrumentation, etc.), encompassing the mine, the accompanying mill, and related conveyor systems.
  • Overseeing maintenance teams and contractors, as well as managing tools, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Prepare and approve all maintenance plans, allocate work to teams, monitor progress, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for the Maintenance Budget.
  • Preparing reports on the maintenance teams safety, work performance, equipment availability, and other reports as required.
  • Manage documents and record-keeping in accordance with the requirements of the relevant government legislation and departmental requirements.
  • Comply with Company objectives, policies, procedures, safe work practices, relevant Acts and Regulations.


Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
  • Relevant trade certification from a recognized training institution (graduate certificate/diploma or degree).
  • Unencumbered Class 5 driver's license.
  • A minimum of eight years of pertinent experience in an industrial environment with at least 5 years of progressive leadership development.
  • Proficient in utilizing computers, including automated maintenance programs and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to promptly respond to and effectively troubleshoot unforeseen mill shutdowns utilizing available materials and manpower resources.
  • Able to determine and document Root Cause of Failure.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Designation is desired.
