Aurex is seeking a Military GPS User Equipment Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force in the development, integration, security, and verification of next-generation Military GPS User Equipment (MGUE). In this role, you'll work alongside government customers, FFRDCs, and industry partners to develop test strategies, evaluate system performance, assess security impacts, and ensure GPS capabilities are delivered securely, reliably, and mission ready.
The ideal candidate combines strong systems engineering experience with a background in integration and test, secure system design, and military GPS technologies. You'll help translate operational needs into technical solutions while supporting the full engineering lifecycle-from requirements development and systems integration through developmental test, operational evaluation, and fielding.
Key Responsibilities- Perform systems engineering activities supporting the development and integration of Military GPS User Equipment (MGUE).
- Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, including test vectors, test plans, procedures, readiness reviews, and test reports.
- Evaluate system requirements and map them to verification methods, automated test scripts, and acceptance criteria.
- Support integration, verification, and validation activities for GPS receiver hardware and software.
- Participate in white box and black box testing activities to verify system functionality, security, and performance.
- Evaluate cryptographic implementations, information assurance requirements, and system security protocols.
- Perform security impact assessments and provide technical recommendations to support Program Office decision-making.
- Review and interpret GPS Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs), and engineering specifications.
- Monitor and assess developmental and operational test execution while identifying technical risks and recommending corrective actions.
- Collaborate with government customers, FFRDCs, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams to achieve program objectives.
- Support technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and acquisition milestones.
- Prepare engineering documentation, technical reports, briefings, and program deliverables.
- Travel up to 15% as required to support customer meetings and test events.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or another technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Systems Integration Engineer, Test Engineer, Test Manager, or Lead Tester supporting DoD programs.
- 5+ years of experience developing or reviewing test plans, procedures, reports, test vectors, and verification strategies.
- 5+ years of experience supporting DoD Integration and Test activities.
- 5+ years of experience with cryptography, information assurance, or secure systems engineering.
- Experience with white box and black box testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of military GPS systems, Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies, and GPS receiver architectures.
- Ability to interpret GPS Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs).
- Knowledge of security protocols and secure system engineering principles.
- Experience supporting technical discussions with government customers, vendors, and engineering stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams while working independently on complex technical efforts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and collaborative project management tools.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting Military GPS User Equipment (MGUE) programs.
- Experience with GPS satellite simulators.
- Experience supporting Lead Developmental Test Organizations (LDTO) or Operational Test Authorities (OTA).
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition and systems engineering processes.
- Experience performing systems integration for space or defense systems.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
- TS/SCI Security Clearance.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- ITEA Certified Test and Evaluation Professional (CTEP) or comparable Test & Evaluation certification.
