About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Global Middle Office team as a Middle Office Analyst based in either Houston or Stamford. The analyst will perform a key controlling function, supporting daily P&L calculation, valuation, position management, and risk oversight across multiple commodity trading businesses. In addition, the role will focus on driving process improvement, automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled solutions to enhance the scalability and effectiveness of Middle Office operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with Trading, Market Risk, Operations, Finance, IT, and senior business stakeholders, serving as both a trusted business partner and a catalyst for continuous improvement across the organization. This role offers significant exposure to North American physical and financial Power & Gas markets while providing opportunities to lead strategic initiatives that strengthen controls, improve reporting, and leverage technology to create operational efficiencies.

This will be a full-time role, owning the following responsibilities:
  • Analyze daily P&L movements, positions, and risk exposures, providing meaningful commentary and challenge to trading desks and stakeholders.
  • Price and validate Futures, Options and Swap products, supporting daily mark-to-market and valuation processes.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Trading, Market Risk, Finance, Operations, IT, ISOs, and FCMs to resolve issues and support business initiatives.
  • Lead the identification, design, and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness across the Middle Office function.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, SQL, AI tools, and other technologies to streamline reporting, reconciliations, data validation, and operational workflows.
  • Evaluate and implement practical AI-driven solutions to improve data quality, exception management, reporting, documentation, and business decision support.
  • Design and enhance dashboards, analytics, and exception-based monitoring tools to provide actionable insights into P&L, positions, risk, and operational performance.
  • Partner with business and technology teams on strategic projects, system enhancements, and data initiatives that improve operational resilience and support business growth.
  • Continuously review existing processes and controls, identifying opportunities to reduce operational risk, eliminate manual effort, and improve overall effectiveness.


About You

We believe the following experiences and skills will best set up this individual for success:
  • 3-5 years of commodities or derivatives market experience
  • Advanced Python coding and SQL knowledge
  • Experience leveraging AI/LLM tools for business process automation
  • Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization platforms
  • Data analytics and workflow automation experience
  • Commodities trading, risk, or Middle Office experience preferred
  • Strong process improvement and project management capabilities

In addition, the following are not essential but highly desirable:
  • Knowledge about risk management (VaR, drawdown, Greeks).
  • Familiarity with the following applications: Bloomberg, Zema, WebICE, CME Direct.
