Overview

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join the Autonomous Weapons Branch (H63) team, where he/she will be responsible for the development and integration of autonomy and artificial intelligence (AAI) enabled weapon systems.

TravelNegligible Clearance

An Interim Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Requirements
  • Experience with parametric modeling, computer vision, and game theory to support automated kill chain analysis.
  • Knowledge of machine learning, neural networks, and artificial intelligence architectures.
  • Proficiency in software development languages such as Python or C++ or analysis tools such as MATLAB for prototype automation and modeling.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Ubuntu operating systems.
  • Proven ability to identify, decompose, and resolve complex technical issues in a dynamic, high-tempo environment.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, data structures, and statistical models
Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role will involve developing complex parametric models to evaluate the performance of elements within a passive automated kill chain, encompassing sensor specifications, computer vision and perception autonomy, multi sensor fusion, and engagement autonomy. This modeling effort will be vital for informing the selection of subsystems and prioritizing automation development for passive kill chain capabilities. Beyond modeling, the individual will provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support, conduct Science and Technology (S&T) investigations into computer vision or automation technology, and deliver comprehensive written reports. The Data Scientist will collaborate effectively with Systems Engineers to link system modeling to engineering requirements and partner with Software Developers to provide prototype automation software deliverables to meet mission objectives.

  • Technical familiarity with weapons systems and fire control systems.
  • Familiarity with software development tools, version control systems, and agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated capability to work successfully with diverse teams, including government employees, contractors, and academic partners, to ensure mission success.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts effectively to both peer-level researchers and leadership.

Compensation at SimVentions is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, knowledge, and competencies, as well as alignment with our corporate compensation plan and contract specific requirements.

 

The projected annual compensation range for this position is $110,220 - $162,060 (USD). This estimate reflects the standard salary range for this position and is just one component of the total compensation package that SimVentions offers.
