Position Title: Mid-Senior Level Wage & Hour Associate
Salary Range: $245,000-$270,000 annually
This attorney will defend employers in complex, high-exposure wage and hour class, collective, and representative actions in California state and federal courts. The role includes managing matters from inception through resolution, developing litigation strategy, drafting dispositive motions, overseeing discovery, taking depositions, and arguing critical motions involving class certification and decertification. The ideal candidate is a proactive, highly skilled litigator with substantial California wage and hour experience, strong judgment, and the confidence to manage sophisticated matters independently while collaborating with partners and litigation teams.
Responsibilities - Defend employers in complex wage and hour class, collective, and representative
- actions
- Manage wage and hour matters from inception through resolution
- Draft and respond to complaints, answers, pleadings, and dispositive motions
- Develop case strategy for PAGA representative actions
- Manage written discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests
- Take and defend depositions; prepare and argue motions, including class certification
- and decertification motions
- Analyze exemption classifications, regular rate calculations, meal and rest period
- compliance, pay statement claims, and waiting time penalties
- Review data and damages calculations related to wage and hour claims
Requirements - Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
- Five or more years of relevant litigation experience
- Substantial experience litigating claims under the California Labor Code, the Private Attorneys General Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act
- Experience drafting and responding to discovery, pleadings, dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions
- Strong motion practice experience, including class certification matters
- Excellent academic credentials and legal writing, research, and analytical skills
