Mid-Level Engineer (Civil or Mechanical)

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Engineer (Civil or Mechanical) to join our Gas Engineering Team in Syracuse, NY, supporting the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of critical transmission and distribution infrastructure for natural gas, petroleum, and related utility systems. This is an opportunity to help clients maximize the value of their assets, navigate complex regulatory environments, strengthen system reliability, and advance practical solutions that support the full lifecycle of essential energy infrastructure.

What You'll Do:

  • Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for gas engineering projects, including transmission and distribution infrastructure, pipeline and conduit systems, and related facility improvements
  • Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership
  • Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices that support regulatory compliance, safe operations, asset reliability, and system performance
  • Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays on critical gas infrastructure initiatives
  • Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments associated with natural gas, petroleum, and utility assets


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Strong working and theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical settings
  • Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
  • Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$87,000 - $92,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
