Full Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Mid-Level Architect/Designer to join the team in our Middletown, CT office. This is an exciting opportunity for a design professional with 6 - 14 years of experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment and is looking for growth opportunities into a senior leadership role.

In this position, you will be actively involved in all phases of the design process, from concept design through construction. You will collaborate with dynamic teams comprised of both local and remote colleagues, contributing to creative solutions across a diverse range of new construction and renovation projects.

The ideal candidate is motivated to advance their career while contributing to the continued growth of Wendel's established Northeast presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Executes projects from Conceptual Design through Construction, including the development of construction documentation; performs field verification site visits and prepares assessment reports.
  • Works autonomously to complete Design, Documentation and Construction Administration tasks, utilizing staff support as needed; leads and supervises team members on complex projects.
  • Researches and resolves problems; analyzes options and presents informed recommendations.
  • Demonstrates strong design, detailing and technical skills, with a comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, International Building Codes, Life Safety Code and ADA requirements.
  • Coordinates with engineers, consultants and project teams to ensure full coordination and timely delivery of all aspects of project; able to interface directly with clients and stakeholders if asked.
  • Mentors and guides junior staff through design and documentation processes.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed and non-licensed candidates that meet these criteria will be considered.
  • Professional degree in Architecture required, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant practical experience.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills and success working within a team.
  • Schedule-driven, ability to plan work of team to meet deliverables.
  • Ability to identify issues, research/assess options and problem solve independently.
  • A working proficiency in REVIT and Bluebeam required; familiarity with SketchUp, ProCore and cloud-based Specification software is a plus.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $113,000
