Full Job Description
Job Description:

The QC Microbiologist I/II/III performs the microbial analysis on allergenic and client components, raw materials, intermediates, and finished products following written procedures, providing the data required to determine raw material/product dispositions.

  • Analyze raw materials, in-process, stability and final container products according to established procedures and as directed by the supervisor.
  • Record and review data in accordance with GxP to meet regulatory requirements and provide information relevant to product disposition.
  • Perform studies to assess product or procedural problems under the direction of the Supervisor.
  • Assist in other forms of troubleshooting/investigations as directed.
  • Prepare reports and assist with document revisions as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Maintain training compliance on all procedures.
  • Adhere to all aspects of plant safety programs and in keeping with GMP's or other regulations.
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment in accordance with procedure.
  • Perform basic microbiology skills, such as aseptic technique, streak plating, gram staining, microscope use
  • Demonstrate proficiency in core microbiology assays, including CCI testing, LAL testing using both Gel-Clot and Kinetic methods, Bioburden using both membrane filtration and pour plate methods, growth promotion, bacteriostasis/fungistasis validation of product, biological indicator verification, APE testing, microscopic examinations, fungal and bacterial identification using microscopic and mass spectroscopy methods.
  • Assist in training exercises.
  • Participate in direct internal and/or external client interactions.
  • Participate in the validation of new products and processes, including writing acceptance reports

Perform special assignments as directed by the supervisor.

Microbiologist III Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, or related hard science with microbiology emphasis
  • 3 years lab experience required
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Manual Dexterity
  • Knowledge, practical application, and understanding of the sciences are necessary to perform the functions of this position.
  • Must have an ability to utilize scientific literature, and to make effective written and oral reports that are clear, accurate, and logical.
  • Knowledge of microbiology, statistics, computer-assisted data processing, and good manufacturing practices is required.
  • Must demonstrate initiative and a willingness to learn.

Preferred:
  • 3 years Pharmaceutical experience

Working Environment:
  • Ability to lift [25] pounds unassisted
  • Exposure to allergens
  • Repetitive activity
  • Prolonged sitting/standing

Microbiologist II Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, or related hard science with microbiology emphasis,
  • 1-year lab experience required with BS degree.
  • Microsoft Word

  • Knowledge, practical application, and understanding of the sciences are necessary to perform the functions of this position.
  • Must have an ability to utilize scientific literature, and to make effective written and oral reports that are clear, accurate, and logical.

Hiring Wage:

Microbiologist III: $81,800 - 130,900 annually, with opportunities for growth, promotion, and annual raises.

Microbiologist II: $31.00hr - $41.94hr, with opportunities for growth, promotion, and annual raises.

Microbiologist I: $27.91hr - $37.74hr, with opportunities for growth, promotion, and annual raises.
