Job DescriptionWould you like to lead manufacturing operations for some of the most advanced composite antennas in our defense industry? Our Advanced Composites Manufacturing (ACM) facility is looking for a manufacturing leader for our Conformal Aperture programs and New Product Introduction (NPI) line, and this may be the role for you!
This role will report to the ACM Operations Director and will assist in leading the factory to success across our growing LRASM, monocone, and conformal antennas programs. The Conformal Apertures Leader is responsible for leading a team of operators, technicians, and Value Stream Specialists toward achieving all factory demands and daily operations.
This individual will work regularly with engineering, supply chain, and program teams to ensure that the factory is set up to achieve QDC goals while also working across functions to eliminate waste from the value stream, innovating improved program execution tools, collaborating with process engineering on future automation plans, and leading the team to a lean manufacturing, zero defect mindset. The manufacturing leader will be responsible for the overall execution of the program schedules, utilization and staffing of the team, and general oversight of the LRASM and conformals production lines as well as the NPI work cell.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ownership of daily operations within factory
- Evaluating staffing levels and capacity analysis to drive staffing and capital decisions
- Presenting to operations leadership on factory execution
- Lead a team of Value Stream Specialists supporting operators and technicians
- Monitoring, influencing and tracking production to achieve delivery milestones
- Partnering with supply chain team to ensure the material flow supports factory production demands
- Collaborating with Process Engineering to find root cause of defects and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensuring a culture of teamwork, collaboration, ownership and safety in everything we do.
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and organizing resources to execute improvements.
- Helping leads/assist with audits, both internal, DCMA/DCMAS and external audits
- Maintaining factory metrics and driving a spirit of innovation
Required Skills and Education- Bachelor's degree or minimum six years of relevant work experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership results in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems with innovation and creativity
- Eligibility for a security clearance
Preferred Skills and Education- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience in composite manufacturing leadership
- Excellent leadership, people skills, judgement and problem solving capabilities
- Demonstrated experience in implementing manufacturing improvements to reduce cycle time, cost, and defects
- Experience in US defense industry manufacturing operations is highly desirable for this position
- Experience with Lean Systems and/or Six Sigma, continuous improvements, 5S and meeting compliance requirements
- Active security clearance
