Responsibilities

A day in the life of Operations Manager of Patient Care Services at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Partner with Patient Care Services` leadership on promoting operational growth, cost containment and expansion of patient care services.
  • Administers daily functions and processes necessary for business execution and identifies areas for improvement or efficiencies.
  • Manage equipment inventory and par levels consistent with patient care needs and policies.
  • Assists with promoting optimal patient experiences; reviews patient experience data and identifies opportunities to improve with regards to materials management, logistics and throughput
  • Allocates resources based on operational needs.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes to policies or procedures.
  • Monitor monthly responsibility summaries and prepares variance reports as necessary.
  • Manage missing any lost equipment, accessories and software upgrade.
  • Understands and performs audits and periodic internal reviews to ensure proper operational management and practices are followed.
  • Participates in hospital committees (e.g, Infection Control, Quality Control, Product Evaluation, Safety and Security Committees).
  • Integrates appropriate hospital protocols and processes into daily activities.
  • Conducting annual and quarterly reviews with Patient Care Services Leadership to ensure operational goals and standards are met.
  • Initiates and successfully implement continuous improvement efforts.
  • Responsible for providing Patient Care Services Directors with reports related to departments financial statistics, quality reports and auditing including analysis of information.  Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver (s) at their level (Developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • Lead role in preparing departments in regularly survey readiness.
  • Lead role in preparing departments in regularly survey with multidisciplinary team.
  • Partner on behalf of patient Care Services with Materials Management, Plant Operations and Information Technology services.
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center`s Organizational & Managerial Competencies.
  • Ensure Patient Care Services departments are consistently operational and fully equipped with the supplies and tools necessary to function efficiently.
  • Manages the daily workflow and work schedules in conjunction with the Operation Team.
  • Ensures staff attends appropriate orientation and ongoing work relate training.
  • Prepare, plan and deploy capital and operational request for Patient Care Services.
  • Lead role in implementing new supplies and equipment requests.

 

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • 5 years of Materials Management related experience.
  • 5 years of healthcare experience.
  • Process improvement.
  • Problem / Situation Analysis.
  • Ability to foster teamwork.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree in healthcare or related field.
