Job Description

Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees maintenance and repair activities across the Rahway site, with a primary focus on facilities and utilities systems and equipment. Supervised trades include pipefitters, millwrights, electricians, instrument technicians, and HVAC technicians.

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the safe, high‑quality, and timely completion of maintenance work. Key responsibilities include managing trade attendance, assigning scheduled work orders, issuing and signing work permits, supporting energy isolation/equipment clearance/lockout-tagout activities, tracking work order progress, and ensuring accurate and complete work order documentation in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). This role operates in a fast‑paced environment and requires balancing workload against changing business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the performance, behavior, and safety/training compliance of the trades team in a union environment. Collaborate with the union timekeeper to manage overtime.

  • Take ownership of assigned areas by proactively identifying issues, developing solutions, and driving them to completion.

  • Partner with planners to:

    • Identify and specify equipment

    • Develop repair plans

    • Ensure required parts, tools, and resources are available

    • Verify that work is completed in accordance with site and company standards

  • Interface with internal customers to:

    • Accurately and promptly characterize problems

    • Develop and implement effective solutions

    • Communicate status and progress in a clear and timely manner

  • Coordinate with other trades and area supervisors to obtain support and transfer work as needed.

  • Manage team training schedule, attendance and performance to maintain compliance with company policies

  • Complete and close work orders, including those governed by strict GMP procedures and documentation requirements.

Education Minimum Requirement

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Vocational or technical school certification is preferred.

Required Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in an applicable trade (pipefitting/plumbing, electrical, millwright, HVAC)

  • Experience supervising trades in an industrial environment.

  • Strong electrical background preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform all essential job functions, including lifting, bending, and moving in a manner that enables safe execution of job tasks.

  • Ability to safely operate required hand and power tools, as well as other equipment associated with the trade.

Environmental Conditions

  • Work may be performed in a shop environment and/or within plant operations, depending on job requirements.

  • Environmental conditions may vary based on the specific tasks and locations involved.

The salary range for this role is

$106,200.00 - $167,200.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
