In Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems, you'll help develop systems that sense, control, exploit and disseminate actionable information to various customers supporting a variety of missions.

BAE Systems C4ISRS Mission Systems is looking for a motivated Contracts professional to join our team to act as functional lead of a Product Area within our Advanced Mission Solutions Product Line. Our Contracts team is agile and composed of highly skilled and dedicated Contracts professionals who work in a supportive and cooperative environment.

The successful candidate shall be accountable for the preparation, negotiation, and management of complex proposals and/or contract activities in accordance with company policies, legal and customer requirements with limited guidance or supervision from the Contracts Director. The successful candidate will need to interpret and communicate business commitments and alternatives to program teams and management while proactively managing contractual scope, customer communication and expectations.

In addition to supporting active programs, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management of personnel. The successful candidate must have prior management experience preferably with teams not located at one central work location.

This position requires an extensive knowledge of government contracting methods, applicable laws and regulations and the ability to develop and maintain professional and dependable relationships with both internal and external customers, especially in challenging and sometimes demanding situations. This position will also require the selected candidate to work both on unclassified and classified programs.

Given the shifting dynamics within the working environment, the successful candidate will also be in the position to work a hybrid work arrangement. When in the office, the work team will be located at our San Diego, CA facility. The Contracts team respects and values the balance that we all desire in our home and professional life and this position will provide that opportunity.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of related contracts experience or equivalent experience in DoD contracting.
  • FAR/DFAR knowledge and experience
  • Existing Secret Clearance/Ability to obtain further TS/SCI Clearance
  • Strong team players who enjoy working with program management and other functional disciplines in a supportive and complementary manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this position as well has having the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience managing a team.


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Masters Degree in Business or related field.
  • Experience with Government Defense and Intelligence Community (IC) contracting in a classified setting.
