Description & RequirementsThe Opportunity:The Assistant Superintendent actively participates in providing day-to-day leadership for all department employees to improve safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost control, and production for the Power/Recovery department. Reporting to the Superintendent of Power, Recovery, and Caustic, this role oversees and supports management and measurement systems to ensure continued improvement in power generation, water and waste handling, electrical generation and kraft cycle operations.
Responsibilities:- Managing and communicating the overall balance of the mill steam and liquor inventory.
- Implement process improvement projects to optimize equipment and reduce downtime.
- Optimize recovery boiler operation and power generation to maximize pulp production and reduce downtime and costs.
- Communicate with other department managers to optimize mill production.
- Promote team concepts with supervisors and operators to ensure continuity in reaching common production goals.
- Directly communicating with Maintenance team and area planners on maintenance tasks in the Power Area.
- Collaboration and management of direct reports (hourly and salary).
- Promote ISO standards throughout department.

What you need:- B.S. Engineering (Pulp & Paper or CHE) preferred, or a combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in Power & Recovery
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory position
