Logistics Manager - Hicksville, NY

The Opportunity:

Provide leadership and oversight for warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, and off-site storage facilities. Plan, direct, and execute departmental objectives to ensure efficient, safe, and cost effective movement of materials and finished goods while meeting customer service, quality, and operational goals. Manage and develop assigned staff, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business objectives.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock:
  • Manages shipping and inventory control, including off-site warehousing facilities.
  • Plans and manages departmental productivity, quality, and other outputs.
  • Uses effective problem solving techniques to facilitate resolution of problems .
  • Works with other managers to resolve systemic issues.
  • Provides needed resources/support/training to staff.
  • Provides feedback to reinforce performance that consistently meets/exceeds objectives, and to support designed experimentation/learning.
  • Provides corrective feedback to address performance that does not consistently meet objectives.
  • Writes and provides on time, accurate, and specific performance evaluations within 30 days of the due date.
  • Writes and conducts corrective actions for performance that fails to meet performance or policy requirements.

  • Ensures departmental compliance to safety and GMP, including reinforcement of the importance of safety and GMP in department meetings.
  • Acts on identified potential safety problems and works to resolve.


  • Ensures that environmental requirements of the area are followed
  • Interviews, selects, and trains employees to meet organizational and departmental needs in coordination with Human Resources.


  • Analyzes current and upcoming demand; puts plans in place to ensure adequate capacity (people, equipment) to meet demand.

What You Need to Succeed:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university; Supply Chain, Logistics or related field preferred.
  • Minimum five years' experience in supply chain, logistics, warehousing or related field.
  • Evidence of technical knowledge and management of Warehouse Management Systems, and shipping/pick and pack systems.
  • Must have demonstrated Freight knowledge and negotiations.
  • Must have demonstrated success managing and leading a progressive Shipping, Inventory, and Receiving operations in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
  • Strong understanding of MRP's and forecasting as it relates to inventory replenishment.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining production metrics and performance standards.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in workforce selection, supervision and development.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good problem solving skills, including use of quality tools.
  • Must have ability to identify and act on the opportunity potential based on the gap between actual and maximum capacity.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize work, people, time and maintain discipline to the plan and to meet current and future demand.
  • Math and measurement skills to analyze and report on metrics.
  • Must have the ability to collaborate with leadership in a multi-functional environment.
  • Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision.

The salary range for this position is $78,000.00 - $130,000.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
