Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a Product Center Leader for our Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) Aftermarket location in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Trusted in the industry, the CAS Aftermarket provides repair services and support for flight critical products to maintain and enhance the reliability of domestic and international commercial airlines as well as military applications. As a member of the BAE Systems team, you will have the opportunity to work hands-on with complex electronic controls and solve challenging technical problems that both enhance our products' performance and matter to our customers.

Basic functions of the job:
  • Implement repair plans and schedules. Track completions of repaired product and report schedules.
  • Ensure product repair costs are understood across the value stream and are achieved.
  • Implement process improvements through the development and execution of a comprehensive improvement plan.
  • Responsible for all costs, first shift manpower schedules, and quality issues related to the complete value stream, inclusive of material, ensuring delivered products meet specified standards (TAT)
  • Act as POC for first shift team personnel and supervise off shift leaders if required.

Primary duties and responsibilities:
  • Establish the visual factory and direct, plan, and organize workloads by estimating, scheduling, distributing, and controlling work assignments to provide for a smooth flow of both priority and routine tasks to achieve economical and efficient utilization of personnel and facilities.
  • Implement and maintain product flow.
  • Tracking and scheduling teams training requirements.
  • Identify and resolve performance problems within the value stream.
  • Set schedule/work priority within the team and drive the team to meet the schedule.
  • Work with team to establish manpower needs, track productivity and turnaround time (TAT) requirements.
  • Ensure key business metrics are achieved within the Repair Station and drive corrective action when product costs (HPU's, COPQ, TAT) are above targets.
  • Coordinate with internal customers as necessary to ensure commitments are achieved.
  • Support corrective action reviews and participate in identifying root causes and corrective actions within the value stream.
  • Ensure compliance with all BAE Systems safety and health regulations stated by company policy and Federal, State, and Local applicable standards.Ensure compliance with all FAA and other Air Agency regulations and Airline requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to do all work onsite due to the nature of this role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, Aerospace, or 5 years Repair Station leadership equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team with difficult and demanding customer expectations.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal)
  • Exceptional attitude and interpersonal skills coupled with good judgement to overcome team challenges including resolving conflict.
  • Ability to lead in a team-based repair environment and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Tools.
  • Knowledge of FAA part 145 requirements.


Preferred Skills and Education

  • 8 years of related experience leading repair team members that repair high-reliability electronic assemblies or within a repair/manufacturing/operations environment.
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring and developing employees across multiple shifts.
  • Experience implementing Lean-Sigma manufacturing concepts to improve safety and quality through improved product flow, continuous improvement, while lowering overall cost.
  • Technical understanding of specifications required in the repair of high reliability electronics.
  • Experience utilizing business systems and tools that aid in managing labor, processes, and budgets.
  • 2 years of supervising/leading a team within a FAA certificated repair environment and meeting turnaround time requirements.
  • Past or current holder of Repairman Certificate.
