Job Description

The purpose of the construction team supervisor position is to ensure the proper installation and completion of construction tasks for projects throughout the system in a safe and efficient manner and within company and regulatory agency procedures. This position is also the liaison between the construction crew, field operations personnel and engineering management.

Direct Reports

Responsibilities

  • Lead the construction team to ensure successful execution of projects and repair activities that are compliant with regulatory safety and environmental rules and practices and company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Develops project planning, provides direction and coordinates project activities associated with construction support services.
  • Responsible for work assignments and scheduling work of the construction team and for confirming that assigned work is properly accomplished by team members. Ensures the correct skill sets are used to perform activities within the assigned facilities.
  • Directs, inspects, approves and rejects work of team members; assigns specific tasks; anticipates, analyzes, and corrects problems; coordinates the availability of required tools, equipment and materials.
  • Communicates information, looks for challenges, keeps adequate records, completes as-built packages, manages team resources and trains and evaluates team members.
  • Supports teamwork, facilitates conflict resolution within the crew and ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and business practices.
  • Manages construction team expenditures to meet capital and O&M budget requirements.
  • Assists field operations teams with pipeline associated tasks such as: emergencies, pipeline leak repairs and TBS or farm tap modifications when construction activities are slow, impaired due to weather or as otherwise directed.
  • This position is responsible for supervisory responsibilities, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, employee counseling and coaching.
  • Assists in the administration of the department budget and reporting the work performed within the department.
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
  • Four years of natural gas pipeline or similar construction-related experience, providing a thorough knowledge of pipeline facility operation/maintenance procedures, codes and engineering standards, including one year in a senior technical/leadership role.
  • Basic computer skills, demonstrated leadership, organization, initiative, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Subject to 24-hour call-out, 7 days per week, required to carry a cell phone.
  • Subject to Department of Transportation drug and alcohol related regulations and testing.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
  • Must be a team player, with a desire to nurture success for the team, have a positive attitude, willingness to get things done and have strong interpersonal relationship skills.
