Manufacturing Engineer IITrion IAQ - Air Distribution Technologies, Inc.Sanford, North CarolinaJOB SUMMARY STATEMENTThis role is responsible for driving manufacturing performance through process optimization, continuous improvement initiatives, and technical support of production operations. The Manufacturing Engineer II will play a key role in improving safety, quality, and efficiency while supporting new product introductions and cross-functional engineering efforts within the plant.
What You'll Do- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality across fabrication and assembly operations
- Support and drive new product introductions (NPI), engineering changes, and design for manufacturability (DFM) efforts
- Develop and maintain work instructions, routings, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions
- Lead root cause analysis efforts using structured methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.)
- Conduct time studies, capacity planning, and labor utilization analysis to improve throughput
- Support equipment selection, tooling design, and production line or cell layout optimization
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, and process documentation
- Partner with Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to improve process capability and reliability
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards across manufacturing operations
- Participate in Lean initiatives including Kaizen events and 5S activities
What We're Looking For- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 4+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment
- Experience with DFM, PFMEA, time studies, and root cause analysis methodologies
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication and assembly
- Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement effective solutions
- Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems
Preferred- Experience in HVAC, air filtration, or industrial manufacturing environments
- Exposure to automation, robotics, or advanced manufacturing technologies
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or similar quality systems
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
- Experience supporting capital projects or equipment implementation
Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a manufacturing facility and requires regular time on the production floor. The work environment includes exposure to industrial machinery, moving mechanical parts, and variable noise levels. Team members may be required to stand, walk, and occasionally lift materials in support of daily operations.
