Summary: The Metrology Engineer is responsible for ensuring conformance to established calibration schedules for all tools related to quality measurement and leading Gage Calibration Technicians. While doing this task, achieving quality, cost and delivery objectives for assigned projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Identify and locate gages due for calibration using Gage Trak calibration management software.
- Strong ability to interpret Engineering drawings/ blueprints / GD&T specifications required.
- Calibrate unique tools to print requirements utilizing dial test indicators, height masters, sine plates, gage blocks, etc.
- Record calibration results and work with engineering & quality teams to evaluate/approve return to production.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and free from clutter.
- Work with Quality Engineering on specific projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Required - High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in the gage calibration field.
- 1 year manufacturing experience in tight tolerance production.
- Experience with Gage Track or other calibration management software.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a supportive manufacturing role.
- Familiar with inspection techniques and bench gage equipment such as micrometers, dial indicators, drop gages, optical comparators, etc.
- Ability to recognize and identify discrepancies in measuring equipment, parts or inspection equipment
- Must be able to read indicators and use tools as detailed above.
- Must be able to read and interpret complex blueprints for custom gages.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English for customer, job and equipment specifications.
- Experience using measuring equipment such as caliper, micrometer, gages.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office.
- Must be able to work flexible shifts as business need dictates.
Preferred Qualifications - Tool making experience, preferred.
- 5S standards experience preferred.
- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Prior experience working in aerospace manufacturing industry.
Physical DemandsTalking, hearing, and using hands to operate calibration equipment and tools. Must be able to lift parts at least 25lbs frequently and on occasion up to 50lbs at or above waist level. Ability to use a computer is required. Must be able to work on your feet in a manufacturing environment. Physical ability to do work requiring frequent lifting, twisting, standing, stooping, and bending.
Working EnvironmentUsual manufacturing environment with temperature fluctuations, noise from and interactions with equipment, and safety standards of PPE and practices required.
