Position Summary

The Metallurgical Quality Supervisor serves as PMP's technical lead for metallurgy, material science, laboratory operations, and advanced quality engineering activities. This position provides technical leadership and supervision to quality and laboratory personnel while supporting the organization's quality management system, forging operations, heat treatment processes, customer requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in metallurgy, materials engineering, or quality engineering and will serve as a key resource for material-related investigations, process improvements, root cause analysis, and customer technical support. This role is designed for a high-potential metallurgy or quality professional seeking to advance into a technical leadership position within a growing aerospace manufacturing organization.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily MetLab and Quality operations, including oversight of laboratory activities, quality processes, and Quality and Met Lab personnel.
  • Serve as the primary metallurgical resource for forging, heat treat, machining, and quality operations.
  • Lead material evaluations, microstructure analysis, mechanical property review, and metallurgical failure investigations.
  • Support customer, NADCAP, AS9100, and internal audits.
  • Lead root cause investigations involving material, process, and quality issues.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications, material requirements, and industry standards.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve process capability and product quality.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives using statistical and engineering methodologies.
  • Support APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, First Article Inspections, and validation activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Quality Engineers, MetLab Technicians, and Inspectors.
  • Support development of laboratory capabilities, equipment, and testing methods.
  • Evaluate material nonconformances and determine disposition recommendations.
  • Assist with supplier quality and material-related corrective actions.
  • Generate technical reports and present findings to leadership and customers.


Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in metallurgy, heat treat, forging, aerospace manufacturing, materials engineering, or quality engineering.
  • Experience leading root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Experience working within AS9100 or aerospace quality systems.


Preferred:

  • Aerospace forging experience.
  • Heat treatment experience.
  • Metallurgical laboratory experience.
  • Prior supervisory or project leadership experience.
  • CQE, ASM, or other industry certifications.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand, walk, and work on the production floor for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment subject to noise, heat, and metal particulates. PPE required per facility safety program.
