Overview

The Merchandising Manager, Womenswear & Licensed Goods leads the product strategy and buying for the Diesel brand across the North American market, spanning both full-price retail and e-commerce. The role is responsible for translating the global brand vision into a commercially optimized, regionally relevant assortment across Womenswear and Licensed Goods, with accountability for driving category performance and maximizing sales and profitability. Weekly in-store visits are required, with additional visits as the business demands.

The role owns the end-to-end merchandising strategy, including assortment architecture, SKU efficiency, category segmentation, regional exclusives, pricing strategy, and seasonal buying. Success is measured through sales, sell-through, inventory productivity, and overall assortment performance across retail and digital channels. As the business owner for Womenswear and Licensed Goods in North America, the role reports to the Senior Merchandising Manager and serves as a key partner to Brand leadership and cross-functional teams, ensuring the global product vision is effectively localized to meet the needs of the North American consumer and deliver commercial results.

Key Responsibilities & Performance Measures

Strategy & Assortment Ownership
  • Ensure global brand strategy is effectively translated across local product assortments.
  • Own the North America assortment strategy for Womenswear and Licensed Goods by delivering against seasonal targets for net sales and sell-through.
  • Build assortment architecture that improves SKU productivity year over year - driving sales per SKU while reducing unproductive styles and duplication.
  • Manage pre-season and in-season buys for seasonal and carryover product, remaining in line with the open-to-buy and holding inventory to plan on weeks of supply.
  • Own the regional pricing framework in partnership with HQ, protecting target AUR while maintaining global price integrity.


Global & Local Partnership
  • Influence the product development process, for local market/product needs with HQ to ensure product designs takes into proper consideration North America commercial needs (i.e., USA specific product issues including sizing requirements and geographically tailored tastes, specific market product trends)
  • Ensure global brand initiatives and product stories are translated into market with on-time delivery against the go-to-market calendar.


Analytics & Commercial Insight
  • Provide cross-channel competitive research and analysis to identify key trends, inform business strategies, understand shifts in market direction, & leverage commercial opportunities for the Brand.
  • Establish and govern merchandise performance measurement standards; deliver recurring hindsight reporting on sell-through, markdown mix, and category contribution.
  • Lead competitive and trend analysis to identify opportunities and inform seasonal strategy.
  • Forecast demand using sales data, client feedback, and market signals,
  • Partner with Retail and Visual teams to assess the impact of product presentation and floor layout on conversion, UPT, and category sales.


Leadership
  • Serve as a key business partner to Managing Director and cross-functional stakeholders, surfacing risks and opportunities with a clear recommended course of action.
  • Build and sustain influential relationships across HQ and local functions - Global Merchandising, Planning, Retail, Visual Merchandising, E-commerce, Wholesale, and Finance.


Qualifications
  • 4+ years of progressive merchandising experience in luxury or premium retail.
  • Demonstrated record of building assortments that deliver measurable sales and attract new clients.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability with strong attention to detail: fluency in open-to-buy management, sell-through analysis, and demand forecasting.
  • Strategic problem-solver who recognizes opportunities and can influence decision makers to move to execution.
  • Must possess high level of analytical skills and conceptual creative ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including active listening and presentation skills.
  • Global perspective with strong grasp of the competitive landscape.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Up to 35% travel, including overnight and weekends
  • Strong project and change management skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
