Full Job Description
Position Overview:
We're building factory-built residential systems from the inside out - designing and manufacturing our own MEP components, not sourcing them off a shelf.
This is a senior engineering role for someone who wants to own the intersection of product development, code compliance, and residential integration at a company moving faster than the industry around it.
You'll be the bridge between our R&D teams and the regulatory world - embedded in product decisions from day one, not brought in to fix problems after the fact.
Who you are:
A PE-licensed MEP engineer with deep hands-on experience in California residential systems, certification pipelines, and code compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Development Support & Code Research
Partner with R&D and hardware engineering teams during the early design phases to embed code compliance into the product DNA.
Conduct deep-dive regulatory research on national, state, and local codes to ensure all manufactured products are legally compliant and correctly labeled for market use.
Anticipate upcoming code changes (e.g., future cycles of California Title 24 and Title 22) to future-proof product roadmaps.
2. Testing, Certification & Listing
Serve as the primary subject matter expert on standard test methods for MEP component certification (e.g., UL, ETL, NFPA, NEMA, AHRI).
Support coordination with third-party testing laboratories to oversee the certification, listing, and labeling process for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing products.
Ensure BESS products meet stringent fire safety standards (e.g., NFPA 855, UL 1973, UL 9540/9540A).
3. Residential System Integration & Sizing
Oversee integration of our proprietary product suite into residential projects (Single-Family & Multi-Family).
Perform full-house MEP engineering calculations.
Stamp and sign off on residential construction documents for submittal to building departments.
Skills & Experience:
PE license in California (required); Hawaii reciprocity preferred
Expert knowledge of California Title 24 (Parts 3, 4, 5, 6, 9), NEC, and NFPA
Hands-on experience bringing hardware through UL/ETL certification and listing
Residential MEP sizing, load calculations, and plan check submittals
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
