Role Overview- We are seeking a TEM Engineer to join our Electron Microscope team. This is a hands-on, lab-based role focused on executing analytical jobs, collecting high-quality data, and supporting data analysis across a range of electron microscopy techniques. The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members to deliver reliable results on schedule, support method development efforts, and maintain high standards of laboratory execution and data quality.
Key Responsibilities - Perform TEM, STEM, HRTEM, diffraction, EDS, EELS, and PED to characterize materials and device structures.
- Analyze microscopy data, interpret results, and prepare clear, high-quality technical reports for customers.
- Work closely with customers and internal teams to understand project objectives and recommend appropriate characterization approaches.
- Develop and optimize analytical methodologies to improve data quality, efficiency, and turnaround time.
- Maintain TEM instrumentation and ensure compliance with laboratory quality and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications- M.S. or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- 5+ years of experience in a technical lab, analytical services, advanced characterization, or related environment
- Demonstrated expertise in TEM techniques, including BF/DF imaging, HRTEM, STEM, HAADF-STEM, EDS, EELS, and SAED/NBD.
- Experience with advanced TEM techniques such as PED (ASTAR), and/or 4D-STEM.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor devices, thin films, interfaces, or nanomaterials.
- Ability to analyze complex microscopy data and communicate technical findings through written reports and presentations.
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
The pay range for this role is:
125,000 - 155,000 USD per year (Covalent Sunnyvale)
