Medical Waste Facility Operations Manager - Santa Ana, CA

Clean Harbors in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a Medical Waste Facility Operations Manager to oversee daily plant operations and support the overall success of the Medical Waste facility. This role is responsible for managing multiple operational areas, including receiving, shipping, waste processing, and inventory management.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM; Saturdays as needed.

Pay Range - $80,000 to $110,000 a year

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily plant operations, including receiving, shipping, waste processing, and inventory management.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements, waste segregation standards, and facility permits.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Plant Foremen and plant operations personnel across multiple shifts.
  • Monitor waste routing and operational efficiencies to support facility throughput, productivity, and profitability.
  • Partner closely with the General Manager on hiring, employee development, performance management, and operational planning.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production, safety, quality, and overall facility performance.
  • Establish and communicate daily production goals while ensuring successful execution across operational teams.
  • Ensure employees follow all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain ownership of area-specific permit compliance requirements and environmental regulations.
  • Hold employees accountable for safe work practices and operational expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5-7 years of plant operations experience required.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience in an industrial, manufacturing, medical waste, hazardous waste, or related environment preferred.
  • DOT training required within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and employee development skills.
  • Experience with site-specific plant operations, including:
    • Truck loading and offloading
    • Waste treatment systems, including autoclaves, decanters, and PLC-supported equipment
    • Inventory management and waste tracking systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, crouch, and lift as needed throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in odorous industrial environments.
  • Must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
