Job Details

ChristianaCare is seeking a Medical Physicist to join the team at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced physicist or an earlier-career professional ready to take the next step following residency.

What You’ll Do

Working closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, radiation therapists and fellow physicists, you will help ensure the safe and accurate delivery of radiation therapy while contributing to the continued advancement of our clinical programs.

In this role, you will:

  • Support treatment planning and dosimetry for photon and electron radiation therapy.

  • Perform calibration, quality assurance and performance monitoring of radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT simulation and HDR brachytherapy systems.

  • Support stereotactic radiotherapy and brachytherapy programs.

  • Participate in equipment selection, acceptance testing, commissioning and implementation of new technologies and treatment techniques.

  • Provide clinical physics expertise and radiation safety guidance to physicians and other members of the radiation oncology team.

  • Develop and maintain quality control programs supporting patient dosimetry and treatment delivery.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and advances in therapeutic medical physics and contribute to education and clinical program development.

Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Medical Physics required.

  • Completion of a medical physics residency.

  • Approximately 5 years of post-residency experience preferred; candidates with 3+ years of post-residency experience are encouraged to apply.

  • Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.

  • Clinical experience within radiation oncology.

  • Strong knowledge of radiation therapy, treatment planning, dosimetry, radiation safety and associated technologies.

  • A collaborative mindset, strong communication skills and an interest in continued professional growth and learning.

Schedule & Locations

This is a day-shift position that is primarily onsite, with approximately 20% remote flexibility. Approximately 50% of onsite time will be spent at an affiliated outpatient location in Broomall, PA, with the remaining onsite time based at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center located on the Newark campus in Newark, DE.

Because medical physics supports patient care and clinical operations, occasional late-afternoon, evening, night or weekend coverage may be needed based on operational and patient-care needs.

If you are an experienced Medical Physicist—or a post-residency physicist ready to continue developing your expertise in a collaborative environment—we invite you to bring your talents to ChristianaCare.

ChristianaCare offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including:

  • Day-one medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • Retirement plans including 403(b) and defined contribution options

  • Work/life support, including backup dependent care and wellness programs

  • Generous paid time off and lifestyle benefits

Annual Compensation Range $215,404.80 - $366,163.20

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
