The RoleThis position is a hybrid role that combines responsibilities in diagnostic medical physics support and health physics / radiation safety. The successful candidate will work under the direction of qualified medical physicists to support hospitals, imaging centers, and outpatient facilities throughout the NYC metropolitan area.
The role will include assisting with diagnostic imaging equipment performance evaluations, supporting radiation protection programs, conducting quality assurance testing, assisting with nuclear medicine audits, reviewing radiation safety documentation, and helping ensure compliance with applicable NYC, New York State, Joint Commission, ACR, and institutional requirements.

What You'll Do- Perform diagnostic imaging equipment evaluations under the supervision of a qualified medical physicist, including computed tomography, radiographic, fluoroscopic, dental, and lead apron testing.
- Conduct quality assurance testing to verify that equipment is operating safely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable standards.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment performance, maintenance, repairs, quality assurance results, and regulatory documentation for review by senior physicists.
- Assist with nuclear medicine quarterly audits and inspections of radiation safety programs.
- Support compliance with NYC Department of Health, New York State, Joint Commission, ACR, and institutional radiation safety requirements.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and review of Radiation Protection Programs and related procedures for medical clients.
- Attend Radiation Safety Committee meetings for hospital-based clients, as needed.
- Assist with monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting occupational radiation dosimetry data.
- Help prepare consultation reports and corrective action recommendations for exposures exceeding ALARA thresholds.
- Support incident response activities involving potential or actual radiation exposure, contamination, or loss of radioactive material.
- Work closely with Radiation Safety Officers, regulatory agencies, physicists, and operational staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What You'll Need- Master's degree in Nuclear Medicine, Health Physics, Medical Physics, Radiological Sciences, or a related field preferred.
- Prior experience with QC phantom testing, diagnostic imaging equipment, or regulatory document management is preferred.
- Working knowledge of diagnostic x-ray, fluoroscopic, and/or nuclear medicine equipment is a plus.
- Familiarity with NYC and New York State radiation regulations, ACR standards, and Joint Commission requirements is preferred.
- Interest in continuing education and professional growth in radiation safety, health physics, and diagnostic medical physics.
- Willingness to progress toward serving as a Radiation Safety Officer or supporting RSO functions for clients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer-based documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to client-specific needs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a professional, client-focused approach.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel between client sites throughout the NYC metropolitan area.

Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including geographic location, experience, education, and expertise. Candidates are encouraged to discuss compensation with the recruiter.
