The Position

We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Of Counsel Attorney to join a leading regional defense team specializing in medical malpractice and healthcare provider litigation. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney to develop expertise in a growing practice area while working alongside accomplished partners and legal professionals. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a diverse caseload, focused on medical malpractice claims, while ensuring all legal matters are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys, team members, and partners on strategic legal projects, fostering strong teamwork and knowledge-sharing.
  • Take ownership of important case-related activities, including attending court appearances, depositions, motion hearings, and other legal proceedings, including participation at trial.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, providing detailed case updates, managing client expectations, and offering proactive solutions.
  • Draft and review complex legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Contribute to the development of case strategies and support senior team members in preparing for trials and settlement negotiations.

Qualifications
  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Must be admitted to practice in the state of CA
  • A minimum of 8 years of defense litigation experience, preferably with a focus on medical malpractice or healthcare defense experience, preferred.
  • Nursing Home defense experience is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present legal arguments clearly and concisely.

A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full-time and therefore qualifies for benefits including 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Salary Range:

$190,000-$250,000 USD
