Responsibilities
Schedule:Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm
Job Specific Details and Tasks:
• Perform a wide variety of laboratory tests either manually or using automated instrumentation• Evaluate quality control information against measurable criteria in the performance of laboratory tests.• Receive written requisitions for laboratory tests.• Obtain laboratory specimens and instruct staff on proper specimen collection.• Observe test reactions, changes of color, or formation of precipitates; studies or subjects treated specimens to automatic analyzing equipment to make qualitative and quantitative analysis.• Bring to the attention of the section supervisor, pathologist or general laboratory supervisor any unusual or grossly abnormal test result.• Perform light general cleaning of work areas such as collection of trash, autoclaving of specimens, cleaning of bench tops and light dusting.• Participate/perform the prescribed QC and CAP proficiency testing (PT) programs.• Adhere to infection control procedures including the use of personal protective equipment and proper disposal of waste.• Participate in required equipment, in-service training and continuing medical education.• Ensure safe work environment and employ safe work habits.• Assist with training laboratory staff and training programs.• Participate in frozen blood program, performing tasks related to glycerolization and deglycerolization of blood.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Technician program
Experience: Minimum 1 year experience
License/Certification and Training: Current certification through ASCP or AMT, BLS.
Security: Government background check required Pay Scale:
$42.20 - $42.75/hr, to be determined based on employment options, qualifications, experience, and location
