This role is subject to a flexible hybrid work arrangement requiring a minimum of 2 pre-determined days per week in our mid-town office.SUMMARY The Medical Journalist, TCTMD is responsible for covering interventional and general cardiology, health policy, regulatory, medical innovation, digital health, industry, and advocacy news and analysis for TCTMD. The individual will develop original, thought-provoking, and clinically relevant content, reporting directly to the Associate Director, Editorial Content to help establish TCTMD as the leading global news resource in cardiovascular medicine. The Medical Journalist will identify topics and issues, develop high-quality news stories in cardiology and related medical specialties, and collaborate with the TCTMD Online News staff to keep news coverage and analysis current and relevant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Reports for daily medical news services, creating high-quality, compelling news stories, and in-depth analyses. Reports on cardiovascular news, controversies, trends, and opinions.
- Identifies breaking news, topics, and story ideas.
- Increases output of daily stories; expands coverage to include health policy, regulatory, medical innovation, digital health, industry, and advocacy news and analysis (e.g., live reporting/blogging from FDA panels, events, and meetings).
- Seeks commentary from key opinion leaders and other organizations to put news into an appropriate context for readers.
- Participates in the redesign and continual enhancements to TCTMD.
- Ensures that breaking news is reported in a timely manner.
- Works closely with the TCTMD Online News staff to develop appropriate timelines and optimal delivery of content to meet deadlines.
- Serves as a liaison and emissary with external news sources and editors on behalf of TCTMD.
- Ensures the scientific integrity and overall excellence of his/her stories, including accuracy, content quality, organization, clarity, format, style, and consistency with TCTMD editorial projects.
- On occasion may assist with editing of TCTMD colleagues' articles.
- Supports the editing and proofreading of written copy, using AMA or other appropriate standards of style.
- Periodic travel to cardiology meetings in the US and abroad.
- Additional duties (participating in video interviews and podcasts) as assigned.

COMPENSATIONThe hiring range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 per year. The annual salary that will ultimately be offered to the successful candidate will depend on job-related knowledge, education, skills, and experience.
