Full Job Description
Colorado PACE has an immediate opening for a Medical Director.

LOCATION: Oversees two (2) locations: Aurora, CO & Greeley, CO. Must be at both locations twice a week, work remotely one day per week.

STATUS: Full-time

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00a-4:30p

ANNUAL PAY SALARY: $234,000 - $275,000 plus Bonus (20% formulaic + 10% discretionary, starting in 2027)

MILEAGE & EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT: Sixty-two and a half cents per mile - one of the highest in the industry! Relocation Reimbursement.

REWARDING WORK YOU WILL DO:

This PACE Medical Director position is responsible for the delivery of participant care, oversight of the quality assessment, and performance improvement program, to achieve best clinical outcomes possible for all participants.

Clinical Leadership & Patient Care

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to PACE participants, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, medication management, and preventive care.
  • Serve as a medical resource to the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and participate in regular care planning and case review.
  • Evaluate participants in clinic, at home, and in inpatient settings as needed for admission, recertification, changes in condition, and ongoing care.
  • Determine the need and urgency for referrals, consultations, diagnostic testing, and ancillary services.
  • Collaborate with IDT members to develop, implement, and regularly review individualized care plans.
  • Provide consultation regarding disease processes, prognosis, symptom management, and treatment options.
  • Prescribe palliative treatments and medications and provide medical support for participants with serious or terminal illness.
  • Serve as the primary physician when requested or clinically appropriate.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and provide after-hours medical support when needed.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.

Team & Medical Staff Leadership

  • Partner with the Chief Medical Officer and other clinical leaders on patient care, education, and clinical practice.
  • Provide oversight and support to assigned advanced practice providers and other clinical staff.
  • Evaluate, train, and support community-based contract physicians.
  • Serve as a positive clinical role model and promote a collaborative, respectful work environment.
  • Provide education and consultation to staff, community physicians, health care professionals, participants, and families.
  • Maintain appropriate hospital privileges and relationships with participating health care facilities and community providers.

Quality & Compliance

  • Provide medical leadership for the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program.
  • Participate in utilization review and help ensure care is appropriate, effective, and aligned with PACE requirements.
  • Support the resolution of participant concerns, complaints, and requests.
  • Help develop and implement clinical processes, protocols, and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, confidentiality requirements, infection control standards, and OSHA requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate coding, documentation, and diagnosis capture, and educate providers on applicable standards.

Community Partnerships & Growth

  • Serve as a clinical ambassador for Colorado PACE within the community.
  • Build strong relationships with community physicians, hospitals, specialists, and other health care providers.
  • Serve as a consultant and resource to referring and community-based physicians.
  • Educate health care professionals and the community about PACE and the services available to participants.
  • Help strengthen access to coordinated services and expand awareness of PACE within the communities we serve.

Stewardship & Resource Management

  • Support responsible utilization of medical services and program resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid requirements and PACE program parameters.
  • Promote appropriate utilization, coding, documentation, and resource management.
  • Serve as a responsible steward of organizational resources while maintaining a high standard of participant care.


WHAT WE ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU:

  • Minimum Education: Graduate from approved school of medicine.
  • Minimum Experience: Three years' experience as practicing physician in hospice, internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, oncology, or related field.
  • Required License: Current Colorado Physician License to practice medicine. Board certified (or board eligible) in Internal Medicine or Family Practice or Hospice & Palliative Medicine. Current CPR Certification. Valid Driver's License and proof of Auto Insurance.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift minimum of 30 lbs.
