Your PositionAs the Medical Director, you will report directly to the Behavioral Health CEO/Partnering Medical Director. Your main responsibility will be developing and implementing the facility's medical protocol. The Medical Director will supervise all medical staff and review and sign off on all appropriate documentation.
Your Role- Maintain open communication lines with senior staff
- Review all medical and psychological documentation
- Complete all comprehensive assessments and medical assessments as needed
- Diagnose clients that have medical complications; continue treatment for each diagnosis
- Manage/reconcile medication for clients that are already prescribed medications at admission or prescribed per the facility
- Prepare clients for Vivitrol if they are interested
- Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient's specific needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to make appropriate referrals
- Supervise all medical staff members
Provide medical services for clients, that may include, but are not limited to:
- History and Physicals
- Medication Management and Reconciliation
- Drawing of blood and reviewing of results
- TB testing and reviewing of results
- Smoke cessation treatment with clients
- Vivitrol education and injections
- Medical and Psychological diagnosing
- Providing client education with respect to medical status, medications, health & wellness
- Pharmacogenetics testing and reviewing of results
- Reviewing all lab results
- Educating at risk clients about HIV, AIDS, and STD if they inquire
Your Qualifications and Skills- Graduate of an Accredited School of Medicine
- MD or DO
- Specialization in Addiction Medicine or Primary Care preferred
- 2+ years' experience providing medical services for those with behavioral health disorders preferred
- Experience with substance abusing populations preferred
- Experience in treating clients with dual diagnosis
- Understanding of co-occurring disorders
- Knowledge of EMR/HER systems
