Medical Director, Doctronic

Role summary

The Medical Director will partner closely with the CMO to turn clinical strategy into production systems, integrating our clinical-grade AI, practice-wide pathways and guidelines, continuous improvement of our care delivery model, and an innovative quality and safety program.

This is a builder role for a physician leader who wants to design care models, ship operational change, work directly with product teams to launch new clinical offerings, and redefine how medical care is delivered in the era of clinical-grade AI.

Reporting and key relationships
  • Reports to the Chief Medical Officer
  • Works closely with Clinical Product, Clinical Operations, Quality and Compliance, Data and Analytics, and Engineering
  • Partners with supervising and practicing clinicians across the practice


Core responsibilities
Practice guidelines and pathways
  • Own the lifecycle of clinical pathways and practice guidelines from drafting through rollout and iteration
  • Create concise, AI-native, usable protocols that drive consistent, high-quality virtual care
  • Define escalation criteria, exclusion criteria, referral pathways, and safety thresholds for virtual-first care
  • Ensure guidelines are communicated and implemented through training, documentation standards, and workflow integration
  • Ensure guidelines are deployed through an AI-friendly interface
Improve Doctronic's AI-native care delivery model
  • Continuously refine how care is delivered across intake, triage, assessment, treatment planning, follow-up, and escalation
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and redesign workflows to improve quality, speed, and patient experience
  • Standardize high-performing clinical practices and reduce unwarranted variation
  • Assist with QA and performance review of Doctronic Physician Group providers
Build new care offerings with Clinical Product
  • Assist the product team with clinical design for new programs and condition pathways
    • Define eligibility, care cadence, clinical requirements, safety guardrails, and success metrics
    • Partner with Product and Engineering to translate clinical logic into usable product and workflow experiences
    • Drive clinical readiness for launches and ensure safe, coherent execution at go-live
Quality and safety workstreams
  • Lead practice quality and patient safety initiatives across the care model
  • Maintain a functioning safety event pipeline and review process with timely corrective actions
  • Run continuous learning loops through structured case review and quality audits
  • Define quality metrics, monitoring dashboards, and improvement targets with Analytics
Care Delivery
  • Maintain a practice within the Doctronic AI-Native Care platform
Additional responsibilities

Required qualifications
  • MD or DO with active or eligible U.S. licensure
  • Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of post-residency care delivery
  • Experience supervising virtual care at scale
  • Demonstrated ability to design clinical protocols and implement them operationally
  • Experience leading quality improvement, patient safety, or clinical operations work
  • The ability or willingness to maximize productivity using AI tools
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience partnering with product and engineering teams to ship clinical workflows and programs
  • Experience operating in high-growth clinical environments such as telehealth, value-based care, or scaling practices
  • Familiarity with clinical AI governance, monitoring, and safety evaluation
