  • Ensure compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission regulations
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to drive program growth and operational efficiency
  • Monitor and improve key metrics such as length of stay, functional outcomes, and readmission rates
  • Oversee utilization management, documentation accuracy, and medical necessity reviews
  • Recruit, mentor, and supervise rehabilitation physicians and advanced practice providers

Position Summary

The Medical Director of Acute Rehabilitation at Central Maine Medical Center provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the inpatient rehabilitation program. This physician leader ensures high-quality, patient-centered care while driving program growth, regulatory compliance, and superior functional outcomes in alignment with Prime Healthcare’s mission.

 

Clinical Schedule & Expectations

  • Medical Director will maintain an active clinical role within the Acute Rehabilitation Unit
  • Expected to provide on-site clinical coverage approximately 3 weeks per month, unless on approved vacation
  • One week per month designated for administrative responsibilities, program development, and leadership activities
  • Participates in call coverage as required by the program

Pay Transparency

Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $275,000 to $330,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
