About the Position ColumbiaCare is seeking an experienced
Medical Billing Manager to join our team in Medford, OR! The Medical Billing Manager manages the day-to-day medical billing processes and operations for our large, multi-geographical and multi-service non-profit behavioral health organization. This essential role provides direct supervision to our billing staff (including Billing and Authorization Specialists) while ensuring established billing policies, compliance guidelines, and workflows are consistently followed.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operational leader with an active working knowledge of medical billing processes, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. We are looking for someone who can quickly assess daily workflows, identify operational efficiencies, and provide immediate training and coaching to the billing team. Direct experience in a Medicaid behavioral healthcare setting is highly preferred.
This position will also play a role in the organization's active transition to the Cantata Arize electronic health record (EHR) platform, assisting with billing-related configurations within the EHR and providing input to ensure workflows, system functionality, and daily reimbursement processes are effectively optimized.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Billing Manager provides operational management and coordination for the organization's behavioral health billing and revenue cycle activities. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day claims management, authorizations, claims submission, payment posting, denials, and accounts receivable tracking. The Manager ensures that established billing policies, procedures, and workflows are consistently followed to achieve accuracy and timely reimbursement.
Working collaboratively with Finance, Clinical, and Operations departments, this position monitors workflows, identifies routine billing discrepancies, and coordinates follow-up on unpaid or denied claims. The Manager reviews routine revenue cycle reports to identify trends, prepares regular updates on billing activity for leadership, and assists with internal billing audits and corrective actions.
A core focus of this role is direct staff supervision. The Medical Billing Manager provides day-to-day direction, training, and coaching to assigned billing staff (including Billing and Authorization Specialists). Responsibilities include assigning work, monitoring staff productivity, conducting annual performance appraisals, and verifying employee timesheets. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for billing-related configurations within the electronic health record (EHR) system and escalating complex compliance or reimbursement issues to the Chief Operations Officer as needed.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (Full Time, Day)
What You'll Make$6,250 -$7,500 per month DOE/Credentials

What You'll NeedRequired Qualifications- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in medical billing or revenue cycle operations.
- Working knowledge of medical billing processes and insurance reimbursement, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) software, medical billing applications, and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, analyze daily billing information, resolve billing issues, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Must maintain access to a compatible smartphone that supports the organization's approved multi-factor authentication (MFA) application.
- Must be willing and able to transfer to another program or work location as organizational needs require.

Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Experience working specifically in a Medicaid behavioral healthcare setting.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience.
- Experience with Cantata Arize or similar behavioral health EHR platforms, including billing-related configurations or implementations.
Must also have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.
This position requires the ability to
frequently sit, talk, listen, and use hands and fingers. It may require the ability to
occasionally walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable; as well as lift, carry, push, and pull up to
20 pounds.
