Full Job Description
The ND Department of Health & Human Services is seeking a Medicaid Director in Bismarck, ND.

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus and/or moving expenses.

Medicaid provides access to essential healthcare services for thousands of children, families, older adults, and individuals with disabilities while stewarding billions of public dollars. The Medicaid Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality, accessible, and sustainable services that improve health outcomes, strengthen communities, and support a more efficient healthcare system. This executive will provide direct and indirect management of more than 100 team members

This executive leadership role oversees Medicaid policy, operations, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, provider engagement, and program transformation. The Medicaid Director partners with healthcare providers, health plans, community organizations, tribal nations, state and federal partners, and agency leadership to advance innovative solutions that improve access to care, address health disparities, and create healthier communities. Through leadership, collaboration, and a focus on outcomes, this position helps drive North Dakota's journey toward becoming the healthiest state in the nation.

To be considered for this position, you must have a Bachelor's degree and five years of senior/executive management level experience in the administration of Medicaid programs, other major human service funding, or reimbursement programs (such as Public Assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program [ SNAP], Child Support, etc);
  • OR a Bachelor's degree and five years of senior/executive level management experience in healthcare administration including extensive experience with Medicaid regulations and reimbursement. Experience must have included program implementation and management, supervision of professional level staff, budget development, and people management responsibilities.
Location

This is a position located in Bismarck, ND that will work from the State Capitol. This position is unclassified and appointed by the Commissioner of the ND Department of Health & Human Services.
