DescriptionAs a
Mechanisms Technician at Impulse, you will support the assembly, integration, test, and maintenance of spacecraft mechanisms and mechanical subsystems. This role works hands-on with precision hardware that must perform reliably in launch and space environments, following detailed procedures and strict quality standards.
Responsibilities- Assemble, integrate, and test spacecraft mechanisms including: hinges, latches, deployment systems, actuators, and release mechanisms
- Follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and procedures for flight and development hardware
- Perform mechanical inspections, torque verification, alignment, and fit checks
- Support functional testing, environmental testing, and troubleshooting of mechanisms
- Document build steps, nonconformances, and test results in manufacturing and quality systems
- Maintain cleanliness and configuration control of flight hardware
- Work closely with engineers, quality, and other technicians to resolve issues and improve processes
- Support rework, repair, and root-cause investigations as needed
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Technical background in mechanical systems, aerospace manufacturing, or related field (trade school, military, or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with precision mechanical assembly
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T as well as assembly procedures and specifications
- Proficient with hand tools, torque tools, and measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches)
Preferred Skills and Experience- 8+ years of hands-on experience with mechanisms/components working on aerospace, spacecraft, satellite, launch vehicle or defense manufacturing
- Familiarity with cleanroom or controlled assembly environments
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with mechanism testing (functional, deployment, or life-cycle testing)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required
- Willingness to work flexible hours, overtime, or shifts as needed to support program milestones
