  • Assist with trade studies and design reviews, contributing analysis and design documentation

Full Job Description
YOUR MISSION

True Anomaly is seeking a motivated and hands-on Mechanisms Engineer II to join our Mechanisms team, reporting to the Mechanisms Engineering Manager. In this role, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, build, and test of precision motor-driven actuation systems for our orbital platforms. You will work across the full hardware development lifecycle - from concept and CAD design through analysis, fabrication support, integration, and test - and develop your skills in a fast-paced environment where your work directly impacts spaceflight hardware.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and develop precision mechanical components and assemblies for spacecraft actuation systems using CAD tools
  • Perform mechanical analysis including stress, fatigue, tolerance stack-up, and kinematic analysis to validate designs
  • Support the selection and integration of motors, bearings, gears, and other drivetrain components into mechanism assemblies
  • Generate engineering drawings, BOMs, and fabrication documentation to support manufacturing and procurement
  • Support mechanism assembly, integration, and test activities including functional testing, environmental test campaigns, and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with motor control, avionics, and systems engineering teams to ensure mechanism designs meet system-level interface and performance requirements
  • Assist with trade studies and design reviews, contributing analysis and design documentation
  • Develop and maintain design documentation including specifications, test plans, and analysis reports
  • Support continuous improvement of mechanisms engineering processes and practices

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 2-4 years of professional experience in mechanical design and development
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Experience generating engineering drawings and fabrication documentation
  • Familiarity with mechanical analysis methods including stress, tolerance stack-up, and kinematic analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work hands-on with hardware through build, integration, and test activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience with precision mechanisms, actuators, or motor-driven assemblies
  • Familiarity with spacecraft environmental requirements including thermal, vacuum, vibration, and radiation
  • Knowledge of materials selection and surface treatment for space applications
  • Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, or similar)
  • Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance analysis methods
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment or a similarly dynamic setting

COMPENSATION
  • Base Salary: $90,000 - $135,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, location, and experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work Location-Successful candidates will be located near Centennial, CO or Long Beach, CA. While we observe a hybrid work environment, some work must be done on site.
  • Work environment-the work environment; temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or other factors that will affect the person's working conditions while performing the job.
