Manufacturing Engineering - Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer - Mechanical, to support manufacturing engineering initiatives at our Winchester, Tennessee facility. This role is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, designing tooling and fixturing, optimizing plant layouts and production flow, and executing capital equipment projects.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working directly on the production floor to improve equipment performance, eliminate inefficiencies, and implement practical engineering solutions. This role works closely with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

This position offers the opportunity to lead meaningful improvement projects, influence plant operations, and play a key role in advancing manufacturing capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Improvement
  • Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production issues.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation including process flows, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.

Tooling, Fixtures, and Equipment
  • Design and implement tooling, fixtures, jigs, and other manufacturing aids to improve safety, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and equipment improvements.
  • Support equipment troubleshooting and reliability improvements in partnership with maintenance and production teams.

Plant Layout and Manufacturing Flow
  • Develop plant layouts and manufacturing cell designs to optimize workflow, ergonomics, and material movement.
  • Support facility improvements, line balancing, and production capacity improvements.
  • Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.

Continuous Improvement
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives focused on waste reduction, productivity improvements, and process standardization.
  • Implement measurable improvements in throughput, scrap reduction, and equipment efficiency.

Capital Projects
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and justification for capital equipment.
  • Support vendor evaluation, equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure successful startup and integration into production.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance and training on equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through sound engineering practices.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline.

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or mechanical engineering in a production environment.
  • Experience designing tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing process improvements.
  • Experience supporting capital equipment projects and manufacturing line improvements.

Technical Skills
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
