Position Overview:

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment. This role occasionally requires working in tight or confined spaces while wearing appropriate respiratory protection.

Location:

On-site in Lynchburg, Virginia

Your Day to Day as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician:
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment, including work performed in tight or confined spaces while wearing required respiratory protection.
  • Safely operate cranes, hoists, power tools, motorized equipment, and hand tools.
  • Accurately document daily maintenance activities in the SAP PM module.
  • Follow specialized procedures when working in radiological environments.
  • Identify, repair, and replace faulty equipment using careful observation, effective troubleshooting, and sound analytical reasoning.
  • Collaborate closely with coworkers and the Planning Department to locate parts, coordinate resources, and schedule repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in a technical field plus at least 2 years of relevant industrial experience, OR
    • H.S. diploma/GED plus a minimum of 6 years of directly related industrial experience.
  • Ability to consistently observe and enforce all safety rules, especially when working in confined spaces, radiological environments, or when operating cranes, hoists, and other equipment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems essential for diagnosing and repairing industrial equipment.
  • Basic working knowledge of electrical systems (up to 480V, 3-phase) and PLCs to support troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
  • Proven ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with coworkers and the Planning Department to coordinate repairs and locate necessary parts.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and the ability to follow specialized procedures and document work accurately in SAP PM.
  • Willingness to attend ongoing training and seminars to maintain and expand technical skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required respirator qualifications for work performed in tight or confined spaces.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.


Preferred Additional Qualifications:
  • Some knowledge of HVAC, Cryogenics, and basic vacuum and leak detection.
  • Some knowledge of CMMS and its attributes.

Pay: $90,000.00

The starting hourly rate for this position in Virginia (US-VA) is expected to be $90,000.00 per hour. The hourly rate offered is based on local job market factors and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify the hourly rate (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation, or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or applicable department/team performance, and other market factors.
