We are seeking a motivated Mechanical HVAC Design Engineerto contribute to our mission supporting our work atSavannah River Nuclear Solutions in Aiken, SC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide design engineering sta augmentation support to SRNS.
- Primary responsibilities include:
- HVAC design development and generation of design output documentsincluding but not limited to calculations for equipment sizing, duct sizing,pressure drops, cooling tower sizing, heating and cooling loads, and airbalancing.
- Create/modify piping and instrumentation diagrams, system descriptions,mechanical equipment lists, integration with fire protection design, and vendordocument reviews.
- Engineering Services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures.Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Education and Licensure
- BS Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering or current registrationas a Professional Engineer in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 10 of relevant experience in HVAC design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
- Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of NFPA 90A, 90B, 91, and 801; ASHRAE Fundamentals; ASME AG-1, 509 and 510; SMACNA; and ARI 410, 430 and 450.
- Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI registration and approved FacilityLevel Clearance with DOE / NNSA.
- Candidate must have the ability to walk down systems in the field.
- Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & LOCATION DETAILS:
- Candidate demonstrates experience in 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).
- Previous SRNS design experience and familiarity with the processes and procedures for providing engineering support to SRS facilities is preferred.
- Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) yearsis preferred.
