Mechanical Engineer Tucson, AZ
Job DescriptionThe Mechanical Engineer will work on the design of new and existing high-altitude balloons, stratocraft, launch equipment, and other subsystems.
Role Responsibilities- Work cross functionally with Engineering and Design teams to develop new and existing products
- Reviews design specifications and project requirements
- Evaluates performance issues through troubleshooting and failure investigation
- Creates detailed design schematics through the use of design software
- Field testing flight hardware with assistance from the operations team
Qualifications- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- 4+ years of Mechanical Design Experience
- Solid understanding of structural design and analysis using hand calcs and SolidWorks Simulation
- Use of Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA)
- Strong understanding of GD&T
- Working knowledge of ASME standards
- Proficient in the use of Mechanical Design programs such as SolidWorks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bonus Points- Experience working with Aerospace materials
- Experience with high altitude balloon design
- MS in Mechanical Engineering
