Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering assessment and oversight for SUBSAFE engineered products.

  • Develop SUBSAFE Program design products, including Instructions and Procedures.
  • Assess SUBSAFE Engineering Reports and Change Notices for Design Reviews.
  • Support Ship Specific Certification Audits and NAVSEA audits.
  • Interface with various engineering organizations and program offices as needed.
  • Cross-train in Deep Submergence Systems Scope of Certification work.

Overview

Special Emphasis Programs (SEP) Submarine Safety (SUBSAFE) Program Engineer with responsibility to provide engineering assessment, oversight, and support required to satisfy the Contractual requirements for SUBSAFE engineered products. The position accomplishes work across multiple Submarine Classes and includes the following: New Construction, Planning Yard and Follow Yard support. Technical oversight and development of SUBSAFE Program design products including SUBSAFE Program Instructions and Procedures. Technical and programmatic assessment of SUBSAFE Engineering Reports (ER)/Change Notices (CN) for requisite SUBSAFE Design Reviews (SSDR) and deliverables. And includes support for Ship Specific Certification Audits and Supervisor of Shipbuilding and NAVSEA Functional audits. The position requires direct interface with other EB Engineering Organizations, EB Program Offices, the SUBSAFE Certification Organization, Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) and NAVSEA as required.

Selected individuals will also be cross trained in SEP Deep Submergence Systems Scope of Certification (DSS-SOC) work performed by the Dept.
