Full Job Description
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE

This position exists to provide engineering expertise to optimize the utilization of physical assets and technology resources to manufacture the highest quality products in the most efficient and effective manner, reduce costs, and increase operating profit. The maintenance engineer increases productivity, and reliability, and lowers costs. This is accomplished by analyzing high-cost and failure assets and working with operations and maintenance to develop improvements in procedures or design improvements. This person will also sustain a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health, and safety regulations and Company requirements.

II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Project & Continuous Improvement Management: Responsible for evaluating existing processes and identifying opportunities for improvement aligned with Best Industry Practices. Leads and manages mechanical maintenance and improvement projects (B-1/B-2), including scope development, cost estimation, budgeting, scheduling, and progress tracking. Coordinates with Operations and cross-functional teams to support unit expansions, equipment upgrades, pre-commissioning, and new equipment startups. Prepares engineering drawings, job scopes, bid packages, purchase requisitions, and evaluates vendor quotations and bids. Applies benchmarking, planning, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting techniques to resolve systemic issues and improve operational performance.

Equipment Reliability & Asset Management: Provides technical and maintenance support to Operations by establishing equipment criticality and standby strategies for critical assets. Utilizes data analysis to develop engineering solutions to repetitive equipment failures impacting safety, environmental compliance, capacity, quality, cost, and reliability. Maintains accurate and comprehensive historical equipment files to support diagnostics, failure analysis, and maintenance strategy development. Reviews and revises preventive and predictive maintenance programs based on equipment performance and abnormal operating conditions. Supports spare parts applications for new equipment and capital projects.

Maintenance Execution & Unplanned Work Management: Oversees and supports both planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, and timely restoration of equipment functionality. Applies strong analytical, troubleshooting, and diagnostic skills to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions. Prepares and maintains daily maintenance, production status reports, and supervisor logs. Works overtime as required to meet operational schedules and minimize unit and equipment outages. Ensures timely and accurate processing of materials, services, and maintenance-related financial transactions. Participates in incident investigations and implements corrective actions as required.

Process Safety & Regulatory Compliance (PSM): Supports Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, including Management of Change (MOC), Process Safety Information (PSI) updates, and P&ID modifications. Ensures all maintenance and project activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Continuously reviews and updates P&IDs to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with site standards.

Leadership, Training & Professional Development: Supervises, leads, coaches, and trains personnel to support skill development and operational excellence. Monitors and executes the Master Training Plan for hourly personnel and develops cross-training programs to enhance workforce flexibility. Prepares annual mechanical maintenance budgets and establishes maintenance goals and objectives. Completes required technical, safety, and systems training, including FPC software upgrades. Promotes a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and safety.

III. QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education
    • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering; other related engineering disciplines considered.
  • Previous Related Experience Required
    • No prior experience is required; other related engineering disciplines considered. 1 ~ 2 years' experience of project and equipment management is preferred. Project management and equipment knowledge experience is a plus.
  • Technical Skills Required to Perform This Job
    • Knowledge of core engineering principles (thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, mass and energy balances).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic familiarity with workflow and maintenance systems.
    • Understanding of maintenance processes and equipment reliability fundamentals.
    • General knowledge of industrial safety and regulatory requirements.
    • Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and assume responsibility.
