Full Job Description
JOB TITLE: Mechanical Engineer

LOCATION: Tifton, GA

DUTIES:
  • Design, fabricate, modify, and evaluate complex mechanical and electro-mechanical components, systems, and sub systems.
  • Write test procedures, compile and evaluate design and test data and prepare technical specifications.
  • Recommend design approaches to meet production requirements for new or improved products or processes.
  • Coordinate with technical support personnel to conduct prototypes or experimental runs for products or processes.
  • Assist in the interpretation and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Assist in the application of engineering principles knowledge to conduct routine analyses and/or tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials or processes.
  • Assist in conducting engineering studies.
  • Analyze historic customer demand data and sales forecast data and recommend optimal scheduling and production planning mechanisms.
  • Conduct studies that determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
  • Head value stream mapping, Kaizen, Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) and Heijunka (production leveling) projects aimed at improving manufacturing productivity and efficiency and reducing operational costs such as labor, inventory, scrap, transport, machine downtime, etc.
  • Stay well-versed in lean manufacturing tools and find ways to reduce wastes (transportation, inventory, motion, waiting, over processing, over production, defects) in production environment.
  • Coach and mentor team members on the uses of lean manufacturing techniques, 5S, Just-in-Time (JIT) and one-piece flow methodologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects through detailed data analysis.
  • Ensure practical application of engineering science and technology, product and process flow optimization, and production planning and control.
  • Implement lean manufacturing, and using Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) for projects.
  • Work with designing product fixtures, apply sustaining engineering changes, and create and manipulate engineering bills of materials.
  • Use engineering analysis tools including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) processes.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or a related field, and 5 years of progressive, postbaccalaureate experience in the job offered or as an Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or in a related/similar position.
  • Experience therein to include 5 years of experience in the following:
    • managing and executing multiple engineering projects;
    • working with cross-functional teams to complete projects;
    • using engineering processes to complete engineering tasks;
    • working with manufacturing processes and working in a manufacturing environment;
    • using product and process flow optimization technique;
    • using production planning and control technique;
    • implementing lean manufacturing;
    • and using Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) for projects.
  • Experience therein to include 2 years of experience in the following:
    • designing product fixtures;
    • applying sustaining engineering changes;
    • creating and manipulating engineering bills of materials;
    • and using engineering analysis processes including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).


RATE OF PAY: $124,093 per year
