Mechanical Engineer - Job Description Position Overview We are looking for a motivated and technical Mechanical Engineer to join our Passive Safety Department. You will focus on the design and integration of life-saving components, such as airbags. This role is perfect for an engineer who is enthusiastic about structural integrity and human-centric design. Key Responsibilities The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving mechanical systems, equipment, and processes to support reliable operations and ensure safety, quality, and performance. This role collaborates closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and project management teams to drive continuous improvement, implement technical solutions, and support long-term equipment reliability. Engineering & Technical Support • Perform mechanical design, analysis, and calculations for equipment, tooling, and system upgrades. • Develop and revise mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. • Provide engineering support for daily operations, troubleshooting system issues, and resolving equipment failures. • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). • Support reliability engineering programs, including predictive and preventive maintenance improvements. Project Management • Lead or support capital projects, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and execution oversight. • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders during design, procurement, installation, and commissioning. • Ensure project deliverables meet safety, quality, and performance requirements. Equipment & Process Improvement • Identify and implement improvements to increase equipment uptime, performance, and efficiency. • Optimize mechanical systems such in Assembly & Propellant Manufacturing, Plant utilities, material handling, rotating equipment, and automation interfaces. • Support development of new manufacturing processes or equipment integrations. Safety & Compliance • Ensure mechanical designs comply with applicable safety standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ASME, NFPA, OSHA). • Champion risk assessments, hazard analysis, and safe work practices. • Support implementation and validation of engineering controls for safety-critical systems. Documentation & Training • Generate engineering reports, technical standards, and procedures. • Support creation and revision of PMs, SOPs, work instructions, and equipment documentation. • Train maintenance and operations personnel on mechanical systems and new equipment.
