Description

IS4S is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support current and upcoming efforts associated with integrating weapons into the B-52 aircraft . This role provides hands-on engineering support across inspection, repair, modification, and integration of complex mechanical and electromechanical systems for aerospace and defense applications. The position plays a key role in sustaining fielded platforms and supporting new development programs.

Position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering support for inspection, teardown, repair, and reassembly of mechanical assemblies and subsystems.
  • Develop and review repair procedures, engineering dispositions, and technical instructions for nonconforming hardware.
  • Support production, assembly, and integration of mechanical systems for new build and retrofit programs.
  • Investigate and resolve assembly and integration issues including tolerance stack-ups, material substitutions, and tooling constraints.
  • Create and update 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for parts, assemblies, and tooling.
  • Support minor design changes and system upgrades while ensuring compatibility and standards compliance.
  • Manage engineering change documentation and configuration control artifacts.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI), design reviews, and process validations.
  • Coordinate with quality, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide technical support for fielded systems as required.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience supporting aerospace systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace hardware specifications.
  • Experience with aircraft mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, flight controls, ECS).
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or similar.
  • Familiarity with composites, corrosion prevention, and mechanical testing.
  • Experience with PLM/ERP tools
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.


Security Requirement
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office/engineering equipment.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
