  • Lead engineering projects from concept through launch while tracking deliverables and timelines.
  • Collaborate with customers to define expectations for new product development and improvements.
  • Support sourcing initiatives by testing components for cost savings and alternate sourcing.
  • Provide technical design estimates and support to Sales & Product Management for custom equipment.
  • Assist Production & Service teams and customers with technical support and application testing.

Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineer is a key position within the Innovation & Marketing Team at Magnaflux (a division of ITW).   The product lines include both capital equipment and accessories.  The primary responsibilities of this role include working closely with cross functional teams, creating drawings for new products, and updating existing products.  In addition, this role will interact with Product Mgmt. to support estimating and lead design for custom application capital equipment.     

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Create drawings and designs for new products related to our capital equipment & accessories, as well as design changes or updates to existing products utilizing Solid Works
  • Ability to evaluate existing and new products, components, and applications, by creating test plans, and validating it meets all specifications and requirements defined within the project
  • Maintain accurate bills of materials by creating accurate drawings and ensuring all parts are inputted properly into the ERP System
  • Lead engineering projects and track deliverables to ensure timelines are met from design concept to product launch, through robust internal testing, and support of beta testing with customers
  • Interact with customers to develop, define, and clarify expectations related to new products and/or existing product improvements
  • Support sourcing department with identifying and testing components for cost savings initiatives and alternate sourcing opportunities
  • Provide technical support and design estimates to Sales & Product Management for custom capital equipment applications
  • Support customer run-offs on capital equipment with part application testing by providing videos and reports to achieve customer approval for sign-off
  • Provide technical and hands on support to the Production & Service teams, and customers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related Engineering degree, with at least 5 years of design and project management experience
  • 2D Drawing Experience (Draftsight Preferred), 3D Drawing Experience (Solid Works Required)
  • Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong customer service and team collaboration skills.
  • Able to formulate experiments and research projects independently and explain outcomes, and discrepancies in an orderly fashion. Problem solving skills

Working Conditions:

  • Daily interactions with a dynamic, enthusiastic, and diverse Engineering Team 
  • Minimal travel required (<10%) to visit suppliers or support customer beta testing
